Welcome to the Wine Doggie Club Agnes!

Thursday, May 18th, 2017

Agnes can’t wait to greet you! Come say hello to her at the Wine Makers Loft (Vintners Village) in Prosser WA. Enjoy a glass of Coyote Canyon Wine!

Happy Spring to all of my Wine Doggie friends! I’m excited to introduce one of our newest Wine Doggie Members. Her name is Agnes and she is the official greeter at the Coyote Canyon Winery, located at the Wine Makers Loft (Studio A), inside of Vintner’s Village, Prosser WA.

Her owners tell me that she certainly acts her age (10 months) and is quite social..always trying to say hello a thousand times. I think I’m going to like this new Wine Dog, she sounds very similar to me!! I’ve been told that her extreme friendliness with guests is starting to really give the Pitbull breed a new name! With her greeting skills, she  absolutely loves coming to work .. and just like me, she hates being home alone.  Agnes takes all parts of her job seriously, especially during harvest! She  is part of the quality control group and helps test the grapes, which usually requires more than a few from each batch. Her free time includes wandering through the vineyard, meeting new friends, and getting her belly scratched. Yep, I’m pretty sure that Agnes and I will become great friends! Make sure and say hello to her when you visit Wine Country!

Summer News from Bung!!!

Monday, August 22nd, 2016

A big hello from Bung the Wonder Dog!

I have had such a busy summer enjoying my job as official greeter of visitors and especially those who bring their doggies wine tasting with them.  When the summer temperatures are HOT, doggies on leashes get to cool off in our air conditioned tasting room (except when we are serving food on the weekend afternoons).  We have a duck pond for doggies who need to really cool off and a huge grassy area where they can run off leash and stretch their legs.  Please come and see me- I will happily pose for you,  and my owners have some really good wines for humans to enjoy.  They like to get a glass of wine and just sit outside and enjoy the peacefulness of wine country.

By the way, my special birthday party is coming up-BUNG’S BIRTHDAY BASH on September 17.  More on that soon!

Love you all!

Season’s Greetings!

Me & My BIG sister Destiny, staying out of trouble..Santa Paws is watching..So we will be good.. THIS MONTH!

Season’s Greetings to all of my friends!  I’ve been trying hard not to be a “PILL” this month .. Santa Paws is watching!!! My owner is so excited for all of the fun festivities happening in the Yakima Valley this holiday season.  Stay tuned and I’ll have more details on that later, but for now – here’s a note from my dog crush, Bung the Wonder Dog.  ~Penny

Doggie and human friends,

I love this time of the year. We have a little bit of snow, some silly happy ducks splashing on the pond, and Bonair Winery is all decorated for the Holidays- both inside and out!

We are open every single day (except Christmas Day) from 11-4. This is the best time to come and visit. I will give you a lot of attention and this time of the year my dog friends may accompany their well-behaved humans into the tasting room.

As a special gift at Bonair, we have no tasting fee for the month of December. We have a lot of gift items to check out while you are sipping wine and enjoying our staff.

Bung The Wonder Dog - I know him!!!

A visit to Cooper Wine Company

My visit at Cooper Wine Company

Hello Friends!

Last month, I ventured down to Benton City and met up with Neil and Bud (Wine Dog)  at Cooper Wine Company .  Bud was the first to greet us in the Tasting Room – such a friendly guy – I’ll have to say, I had fun playing “Bung Ball” with him too!!  Bud is so well known that he has his own Facebook page – you can find him listed under D.b. Cooper – He is one of my newest Facebook Friends!!!! His owner, Neil is very supportive of local charities and just recently raised over 15,000 dollars over a “friendly” competition with Two Mountain Winery to help out the wildfire victims of North Central Washington.  It was quite entertaining watching Two Mountain’s staff clean up Cooper’s wine equipment .. Bud & I were amused with all of the unexpected shenanigans, humans can be so silly at times!!!!!

When you visit Cooper Wine Company, you can count on friendly staff  along with a fine glass of wine.  I (personally) could not get enough play time with Bud outside on their nice green owner watched us play together over a beautiful pink sunset.  I can’t wait to return – make sure and stop at Cooper Wine Company, and bring your dog too!

Until next time,

Penny The Pill’s August Adventures

Friday, August 21st, 2015

Hello to all of my human & furry friends!  Well, this summer is almost over – but that doesn’t mean the sunshine is going anywhere! My owner has taken me to some really FUN places around the Yakima Valley… One of my favorite adventures this summer was a trip to Elk Ridge Campground just 35 minutes outside of Yakima.  My owner promised me that there would be friends for me to play with and she was right!  I was greeted by lots of smiles & licks .. I even hung out with my friend Scrappy and the official Elk Ridge Camp Dog Chloe! The campsite has lots of room to run, relax and I’m still dreaming about my swim time in the water.  My owner loved all of the cabins because each one had such character & personality! The campsite has some of the best tent & RV spots too, and for those who prefer nice bathrooms & showers (like my owner) – this is the place you’ll want to camp! Elk Ridge is also open all year round with plenty of activities to enjoy – hiking, mountain biking, fly-fishing, festivals, hunting and snowmobiling.. just to name a few!! The owners Julie & Tim made me feel right at home and my owner said she can’t wait to come back.  This is certainly one spot you’ll have to check out while visiting the Yakima Valley.  ~Penny the Pill

Bungs Summer Fun!

Bung enjoying a break with some of Bonair Winery's visitors.

Bung enjoying a break with some of Bonair Winery’s visitors.

My buddy Bung loves his social time with those who come and visit him at Bonair Winery!  He is so great about staying in touch with me and all of the other Wine Doggies in Yakima Valley.  Check out his latest news (below) for this summer…until next time… ~Penny the Pill

Wow, this is by far my favorite time of the year. Lots of humans are coming to Bonair Winery and many like to sit in the shade by the duck pond, eat a snack, and drink some great Bonair wine. That’s where I come in!If there is an empty chair, I find it my duty to sit on it and entertain the people. I am really very polite and I do not beg, but often little tidbits of food find their way to my smiling mouth. This makes everybody happy. Bonair Winery loves to have doggies visit with their well behaved owners. There is a lot of grass to play on, and dogs that like the water are always happy with the pond. When the weather is over 90’ doggies are welcome in our tasting room on a leash. And I really really like meeting every kind of dog and becoming their friend.

Your special friend,

Penny’s Post: Spring Barrel and New Wine Dogs!

Thursday, April 23rd, 2015

penny.4.26.15PostWith Spring Barrel just around the corner, I thought you might want to hear from more of our “newer” Wine Doggies! They have such great stories – I could just play with their toys… I mean, listen to their stories all day long! Today you’ll get to hear from Benji & Sid.  Both dogs were rescued by their owners.  We are so lucky to have owners who love us unconditionally and give us the best homes. My owner surprised me this weekend with a bright red football! I love all the different sounds it makes when I bite on it – but my owner tells me this is an outside toy, and so sometimes I have to share it with my big sister Destiny!  Enjoy the stories and have fun during Spring Barrel Weekend - I’ll be staying home with my new squeaky football.  Toodles ~ Penny the Pill

Benji (left) & Gracie (right)  waiting to greet their visitors at Barrel Springs Winery

My name is Benji. Someone dumped me off last summer at Barrel Springs Winery. I loved hanging around Jim and Annette’s house and vineyard but I noticed they already had a winery dog and they weren’t too sure they wanted to take on another. I knew my big personality could win them over if I just had a little time! Unfortunately some big dog came into the front yard one morning and decided to eat me! Annette scooped me up, took me to the Vet and told Jim that it only cost $700 to fix me up, so they guessed they better keep me. I’ve been a happy camper ever since and I am even starting to grow on Gracie too.

Spring Barrel tasting is coming up next weekend and I’m already getting excited to see everyone. Gracie lets me take the lead on this. Jim will be tasting his 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon out of the barrel and they also have some artisan cheeses paired with their wines for tasting all weekend. I’m always on the lookout for a morsel or two to drop! They have some great discounts on 1/2 and full cases of wine for this event also. Gracie and I will be available for any photo opts and we can’t wait to share our owners enthusiasm and love for wine making. See you April 26-28 10am-5:00pm.  ~Benji & Gracie

Marshal taking a break with one of his owners, Paul while they tend to the vineyards together.

Hi, my name is Marshal and I joined the Paradisos pack last week. My home was meant to be, as my new owners were down to one dog, Digley, who apparently thinks he can keep the coyotes out of the yard single-handedly.  Needless to say, he needed back up and like my owner said, “One dog isn’t enough for the best mental health.”

My new owners found me at the Yakima Humane Society. Being friendly is one of the requirements of a good Wine Dog. Luckily for me, I fit the bill – I love people and I’m gentle and I love it when families come to visit me! I’m still learning my job, but my owner says I’m good at greeting visitors and escorting them along. I absolutely love getting tummy rubs and pets .. and of course, I also love treats!!! I’m not allowed in the tasting room though, my owners like to keep the food samples safe and the room allergen free to visitors – so make sure and say hello to me on your way inside! Since I’m the new Wine Dog in town, I would love to make some new friends with other dogs. If you bring your dog, please keep them leashed because we have free range poultry. I can show you where there is shady tie out spots along with leash free options and walks.  Speaking of walks, I can hardly wait for the Canine & Wine Walk, I’m hope to see you there! ~Marshal

Springtime in Downtown Yakima!

Thursday, April 2nd, 2015

It was too nice outside to stay in last weekend, so my owner took me for a stroll around Downtown Yakima. She mentioned something about if I was good and kept my alter ego “Penny the Pill” to a minimum, there would be a reward at the end of the day.  We had a such a wonderful time at the Yakima Maker Space Spring Bazaar Fundraiser event – so many new people to check out, my owner loved looking at all of the arts & crafts, handbags and jewelry for sale. The Yakima Maker Space is a great place for projects of all sorts.

I (on the other hand) had my own agenda and pulled my owner toward a booth that I could smell from the moment we entered the room.  My new friend Jack Wright was selling homemade cookies, just for me!!! Well, he calls them the “Wright Bite” and the money being raised will go toward a school trip to Australia. My owner kept her word, I hadn’t been too much of a pill, so we left the Bazaar with a bag of Snickerpoodle cookies in hand.

On our way back to the car, I was greeted by some new furry friends (also on a walk) and one of their owners even noticed my brand new pink leash. The people here sure are nice and love dogs! I heard them tell my owner they were headed to the Greenway for a nice walk along the water.  I’ll have to check that place out, but for now – I’m happy with my treat from the Yakima Maker Space Spring Bazaar, being “good” has its rewards!

Until Next Time,

Penny the Pill

Happy February from Bung the Wonder Dog!

Thursday, February 26th, 2015

Bonair Bung Spring 2015I am one happy doggie.  It is spring in late February and the weather is warm and sunny AND I have discovered a brand new and interesting scent that I would like to share with my doggie friends who bring their owners out to taste wine.   My owners got excited too, when they discovered that we have a muskrat living at the edge of the pond.  Now I have so much herding to do- I have to keep the ducks by the pond, keep the muskrat in the pond, and keep an eye on the dozens of gold fish that have moved to the surface of the pond to get warm.

I can always use back-up-dog help. With all this work, I am always happy when people and dogs come to our winery so I can take a break and get my ears scratched and tummy rubbed.  We are open everyday from 11 AM-4 PM.  Come and see us at BONAIR WINERY!!

Meet Brodie of Severino Cellars

Monday, November 17th, 2014

Meet BrodieGreetings from Severino Cellars! My name is “Brodie” and I’m the resident wine dog here. I’m a West Highland White Terrier (or terrorist as I am sometimes referred to!) I found my forever home when I was 7 weeks old. My owner Linda Spurlock picked me up and I went to “work” the very next day. When Linda is working in the tasting room I can be found here. I am now 7 years old but people seem to think I’m much older. They say I am a young dog with an old soul. I just don’t get too excited when you come to visit. Don’t get me wrong….I LOVE people and other dogs too. A nice belly rub and scratch behind the ears is all I require when you visit. I may come and greet you at your car door but I’m not much into barking or jumping when you pull into the lot. Just a friendly sniff and wag of my tail….you may even have to step over me when you come in the door.

My favorite season is spring. That’s when the sage rats visit our property and I spend many hours hunting and digging. I do love to dig. Typically anything that moves or runs is mine to chase. That includes skunks, of which I have had two up close and personal experiences. What can I say? They were in my yard!

Meanwhile, our Thanksgiving in Wine Country event is fast approaching. To help with the cold weather we’re serving sausage and pumpkin chili as well as our delicious wines.

photoStop by and enjoy some savings and stock up for the holidays.   I will be happy to share my bed with you, if you fit. If not, there are some comfy chairs available and I will be happy to sit on your lap as you sample our wines.

We are open Friday, Saturday and Sunday after Thanksgiving. 10:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m.

See you soon!
